DAY 3 - January 15, 2019

Seth Mutch

Q: What is your major and minor (if applicable)?

A: Accounting Major.

Q: What inspired you to pursue a business degree?

A: After my first year of University, I was torn between two facilities. I could have done a BA in Psychology as I quite enjoyed the entry-level courses. However, I decided to pursue a BCom in accounting. The major factor that helped me decide was that the school of business allows you to constantly interact with new people, something I really enjoy to do.

Q: Who is someone who inspires you?

A: My inspiration is Richard Branson as he runs many companies and still survives.

Q: What has been your most memorable experience of business so far?

A: A competition that I really enjoyed was the "What's your PowerPoint?" by none other than the SMO Club. This event was super unique and a really fun way to put some improv skills to the test.

Q: How would you describe yourself in three words?

A: Funny, honest, and motivated.

Q: What will we find you doing when you’re not at school or studying?

A: I spend a lot of time with my fraternity (FIJI), and I also work part-time for Cineplex Entertainment.

Q: What's your dream career?

A: I would like to have my CPA, and work at one of the major firms in Edmonton.

HENNY SUNNER

Q: What is your major and minor (if applicable)?

A: Accounting Major / Entrepreneurship and Innovation Minor.

Q: What inspired you to pursue a business degree?

A: I was a Science student for two years and I always found myself leaning towards anything and everything to do with business. Making the switch to business has been a great change of pace for me. The main reason I chose to pursue Business at U of A specifically, is because the program embodies entrepreneurial spirit in its core. Alongside that, I have had the opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals and grow my network.

Q: Who is someone who inspires you?

A: Definitely my dad and grandfather, they both embody exactly what it means to be an entrepreneur.

Q: What has been your most memorable experience of business so far?

A: There have been a few, but the BUS 201 case analysis has been the most memorable and impactful for me. Getting to present my business idea helped me refine a lot of skills such as, leadership, attention to detail, working in groups, time management and more. Although the assignment seems daunting at first, it teaches invaluable knowledge that cannot be learned through a multiple choice exam.

Q: How would you describe yourself in three words?

A: Outgoing, open, and adventurous.

Q: What will we find you doing when you’re not at school or studying?

A: Either playing soccer, skiing in the mountains, travelling, or eating!

Q: What's your dream career?

A: Owning a very successful business or working at Google.

Abyad Rahman

Q: What is your major and minor (if applicable)?

A: Accounting Major / Finance Minor.

Q: What inspired you to pursue a business degree?

A: I chose business because I enjoy travelling and opportunities to travel with a business career are limitless! Globalization is the future and keeping an open mind can take us a long way with a business degree.

Q: Who is someone who inspires you?

A: My parents have traveled across the world to call Canada home, and provided me with the opportunities I have today. Business and entrepreneurship are about exploring new opportunities and innovating to change what you aren’t satisfied with. My parents are legitimate entrepreneurs and the biggest source of my inspiration!

Q: What has been your most memorable experience of business so far?

A: My most memorable experience of business comes from the Alberta International Business Competition. As a team ambassador for AIBC, I had the opportunity to meet numerous extraordinary people, explore the fascinating town of Jasper, and gain valuable experience for future case comps.

Q: How would you describe yourself in three words?

A: Opportunistic, exciting & inspirational!

Q: What will we find you doing when you’re not at school or studying?

A: When I’m not at school or catching up on sleep, I’m most likely networking! I enjoy learning about people and hearing about their experiences. Interacting with new people reveals a new perspective on life and helps me make better choices about my own life.

Q: What's your dream career?

A: I wish to become a CPA Accountant and build my own Accounting firm someday.

To continuously offer opportunities which empower undergraduate students to

understand and adopt the essential skills learned in the study of strategic management

and organization.
