BLAKE MORAN

Q: What is your major and minor (if applicable)?

A: Finance Major / Entrepreneurship Minor.

Q: What inspired you to pursue a business degree?

A: I was originally in Sciences in Kinesiology but had no real interesting in pursuing a lifelong career in this field. I started a private landscaping business with my best friend in the summer and discovered my passion for working for myself so I enrolled into the prerequisites to go into business. During this time I recognized a huge interest for finance and stock trading and began to learn about this on my own. These interests, along with the support of my sister who was already in business and loving it, led me to switch into business and helped decide which major and minor to select.

Q: Who is someone who inspires you?

A: My sister, Allie, is somebody who inspires me. She has been a great influence on me as she always looks to do her best work under every circumstance, and follows her passion while encouraging me to do the same. From her influence I have become a better student and a harder worker. Becoming involved in university clubs and taking part in university events was never a huge interest for myself but through her encouragement to get involved it has led to some of the best moments of my university experience and has allowed me to meet many amazing new friends!

Q: What has been your most memorable experience of business so far?

A: The most memorable experience of business for myself was at the Prairie Games with the JDC West social team. It's hard to forget being woken up by the JDC West captains at 1:30 AM in Saskatoon by cheering outside your hotel room to go do an escape room with other JDC West teams from all across Canada. It has been such a unique and fun experience that I'm grateful to be a part of.

Q: How would you describe yourself in three words?

A: Compassionate. Determined. Modest.

Q: What will we find you doing when you’re not at school or studying?

A: Most mornings you can find me looking at, and trading stocks, although I can be found doing the same in lectures as well... I can also be found spending time with friends, watching basketball, heading to a happy hour, or watching YouTube videos trying to learn new things. In the summer I run a private landscaping business and can be found working away outside.

Q: What's your dream career?

A: My dream career is to become a successful investor. I would love to have a career in trading stocks, owning properties to rent and resell, as well as reselling luxury cars that I can drive in between sales. I would also like to continue with my landscaping business and turn it into a larger operation with several employees.
